ErP Directive for circulators

Since August 1st 2015, only circulators with an Efficient Energy Index (EEI)<= 0,23 are tradable in the European Union. The sign EEI <=0,23 is labelled on the identification plate of each product included within the Directive.

Note : the ESC (secondary hot water) circulators are excluded from this measure.

ErP Directive for pump motors

Since January 1st 2015, the 3-phase ventilated pump motors which nominal power is between 7,5 kW and 375kW and that are sold in the European Union must have a minimum IE3 class or IE2 + electronic speed variation. You can find the IE2 or IE3 class mention on the identification plate of each product involved.

ErP Directive for pump hydraulics

The MEI is an index of minimal efficency corresponding to a calculated hydraulic efficency of the pump defined on 3 points : at the best efficiency, on partial load and over load.

The MEI is being implemented since January 1st 2013 for pumps sold in the European Union market and complying with the 547/2012 regulation for conformity to the ErP* eco conception Directive (2009/125/CE). Since January 1st 2015, pumps hydraulics must show an MEI >or= to 0,4.

For these pumps, the MEI and the manufacturing date are mentioned on the product identification plate.

The pump efficiency equipped with an ajusted wheel is usually lower compared to a pump with a maximum diameter wheel. The wheel clipping allows to adapt the pump diameter to the specified operating point and thus to reduce energy consumption. The minimum efficiency index (MEI) is based on the wheel maximum diameter.

The use of water pumps included within the 547/2012 regulation with changing operating points and without built-in speed variator can be more efficient and economical if a control tool (for instance a speed variator) allows to ajust the pump operating point within the system.

Wilo Salmson France SAS aims for a comprehensive life cycle assessment; delivering excellent products is not enough: we think ahead - already during the product planning phase - by considering what to do with worn-out products. The disposal or recycling of materials and components is an important matter to us. That is why we check thoroughly not only if the materials and components we use are environmentally compatible in general, but also if they can be reused and recycled.

We're not only promising the motto "Reduce. Reuse. Recycle." - we live it. Components that don't get worn out during operation are used for the production of new pumps.

Hence we would like to ask all our customers to give us back Salmson products that are no longer in operation. If you cannot do this, please bring the product to a waste disposal company and do not throw it into your domestic refuse. We cannot be successful without your help.

The information given on this page is not only for our customers. It is also useful for waste disposal companies that might receive our products. Here you can find information on how to treat and recycle them.

The potential recycling rate of a Salmson pump lies between 90 and 98 per cent, i.e. that nearly each component of a pump that is no longer in use can directly enter the "material-cycle". Metals make up the largest part of the total weight. Already today, a Salmson pump consists to a large part of reused materials.

As a consequence of the eco-design guideline regarding pumps, the number of electronic pumps in Europe is going to increase. This trend isn't all that new: the share of electronics and highly developed materials in our products has been growing constantly. In turn, by using these technologies in our products, we reduce their total weights and their total power consumption. Of course these changes mean also challenges for the recycling process; but Salmson is willing to accept and overcome them.

When considering the information given in this document, only 2.5 per cent of the total pump weight cannot be recycled, because it isn't yet technologically possible.
